Exercise ‘SLEDGE Hammer’ aims at practicing student officers in planning Counter Insurgency Operations (COIN) at operational and tactical levels. It is conducted through a ‘War Game’ on a hypothetical situation related to North of Sri Lanka. The Exercise ‘SLEDGE HAMMER’ is an exercise where the student officers are given the responsibility to run the Control Headquarters and four Exercise Headquarters.
The Objectives of the Exercise are, developing student officers’ knowledge and understanding of the use of war gaming as a staff tool, Confirm their understanding on the battle procedure, and conduct of COIN operations.
The exercise was conducted from 25 September 2017 to 02 October 2017 and concluded followed by a ‘Red Ink Correction’ (RIC).
