The seminar on “Extremism” for the course No 17 was conducted on 28 August 2023 with the participation of professional academics on the subject matter at the main auditorium of the Defence Services Command and Staff College.

Dr. George Cooke conducted a lecture on “Eradicating Extremism: From Lessons Learnt to Recourses Required” while Ms Nahdiya Nasoordeen enriched the audience on the topic of “The aid of soft tools to prevent/counter violent extremism.” Mr. Nilanthan Niruthan provided his insights on “Extremism & Emerging Technology.” “De-radicalization of Violent Movements” was the topic of Mr. Indika Perera.

The audience was provided with an opportunity to clear their doubts through a panel discussion during the latter part of the seminar. At the conclusion, the audience was able to gain an insight on extremism from a diversified lecture panel bestowing an in-depth understanding on definitions, narratives, counter measures and means to be committed in respect to Counter Extremism.
