Major General K W Jayaweera

USP psc

   Major General K W Jayaweera USP psc is presently serving as the Commandant –Defence Services Command and Staff College. He is an alumnus of Kegalu Vidyalaya, Kegalle, where he demonstrated excellence in academics, athletics, and extra-curricular activities. He was enlisted into the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 10 February 1992.
Upon commissioning as a Second Lieutenant, he was posted to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. With the establishment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment in 2007 he was transformed into Mechanized family. Over a distinguished military career spanning more than 33 years, he has rendered exemplary service through a wide range of command, staff, and instructional appointments, contributing significantly to operational effectiveness, training excellence, and institutional development.

Throughout his career, Major General Jayaweera has exercised command at various levels, leading troops and formations in both operational and administrative roles, while demonstrating sound leadership, professionalism, and tactical acumen.

Major General Jayaweera is practicing Buddhist. His hobbies are reading and travelling. He is married to Mrs. Chithrani Gunasinghe (house wife) and is blessed with a son, Susara Ruwantha Jayaweera (26 years) and a daughter, Esandi Sadothma Jayaweera (22 years).
