The Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) Delegation on International Collaboration Study Package (DDICSP) is an annual event in the calendar of the DSCSC, with the purpose of studying the instrument of national power status of the visiting countries. Also to compare and contrast the same with Sri Lanka and other countries. The main objective of the DDICSP is to enhance military cooperation of the countries visited. This year’s DDICSP took place from 2 September 2024 to 11 September 2024 and DSCSC delegations comprised of Faculty Members and Course Participants visited six countries namely India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
Visit of the DSCSC Delegation to the United Arab Emirates. A 35-member delegation led by the Commandant of the DSCSC, Major General Kapila Dolage visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a part of the DDICSP. The delegation comprised six members from the Faculty, 21 Local Course Participants and six Foreign Course Participants. During the visit to the UAE, they visited Masdar City, Sri Lankan Embassy in UAE, Grand Mosque, Thawasan Industrial Park, Emirates Center for Research and Strategic Studies, Burge Khalifa, Museum of the Future and gained insights on the country’s historical, cultural and economic contexts, its geopolitical strategies and military advancements. The visit also provided an opportunity for the delegation to explore country’s scenic beauty.
Visit of the DSCSC Delegation to Indonesia. A 31-member delegation led by Brigadier WBMKGK Weerasekara WWV RWP RSP USP psc, visited Indonesia as a part of the DDICSP. The delegation comprised seven members from the Faculty, 20 Local Course Participants and three Foreign Course Participants. During the visit to Indonesia, they visited Sri Lankan Embassy, Indonesian National Military Headquarters and Indonesian Aerospace Industry. They explored Indonesia’s military education systems at Army and Navy Command and Staff Colleges. Also. By visiting cultural landmarks like the Bandung Summit Museum and Tangkuban Perahu Volcano they gained insights on the country’s historical, cultural and economic contexts, its geopolitical strategies and military advancements. The visit also strengthened ties with Indonesian diplomatic and military counterparts.
Visit of the DSCSC Delegation to Pakistan. A 28-member delegation led by Commodore Sanjeewa Premarathne RWP RSP* psc MSc (D&SS) BSc (DS)Mgt, visited Pakistan as a part of the DDICSP. The delegation comprised six members from the Faculty, 20 Local Course Participants and one Foreign Course Participant. During the visit to Pakistan, they visited Pakistan Naval War College, National Defence University, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and several defence and strategic organizations. The visit also included cultural sites like Daman-e-koh and Faisal Mosque. That helped to gain insights on the country’s historical, cultural and economic contexts, its geopolitical strategies and military advancements. The delegation had an opportunity to discover the nation’s distinctive culture and incredible natural beauty during their visit.
Visit of the DSCSC Delegation to Thailand. A 33-member delegation led by Air Commodore WPAH Perera RSP and Bar, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), MA (SSS – USA), BSc (Def Stu), ndc (Ind), ctf – ndu, psc visited Thailand as a part of the DDICSP. The delegation comprised five members from the Faculty, 23 Local Course Participants and five Foreign Course Participants. During the visit to Thailand, they visited the Embassy and Permanent Mission of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Bangkok, Thailand, Wat Arun Ratchawararan Ratchwaramahawihan, Joint War College, Grand Palace and the Temple of Emerald Buddha, Temple of the Reclining Buddha, Arts of the Kingdom Museum, Royal Naval Base Sattahip/Air and Coastal Command, Khao Chi Chan (Buddha Mountain). Those visits helped to gain insights on the country’s historical, cultural and economic contexts, its geopolitical strategies and military advancements. Additionally, the delegation had the chance to take in the beautiful landscapes and rich culture of the nation throughout the tour.
Visit of the DSCSC Delegation to Malaysia. A 32-member delegation led by Brigadier KA Pushpakumara RWP RSP USP psc visited Malaysia as a part of the DDICSP. The delegation comprised five members from the Faculty, 23 Local Course Participants and four Foreign Course Participants. During their visit to Malaysia, they visited Batu Caves, Genting Highlands, Subang Air Base, National Hydrography Centre, PUSPAHANAS and the Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre. They also explored Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur and the Sri Lankan High Commission in Malaysia, Sunway Lagoon and the Army Museum. Those visits helped to gain insights on the country’s historical, cultural and economic contexts, its geopolitical strategies and military advancements. The delegation had an opportunity to discover the scenic beauty and distinctive culture of the nation during their tour.
Visit of the DSCSC Delegation to India. A 31-member delegation led by Colonel KS Maddumage RSP USP USACGSC Isc, visited India as a part of the DDICSP. The delegation comprised six members from the Faculty, 22 Local Course Participants and three Foreign Course Participants. During the visit to India, they visited key Indian defence institutions, including the National War Memorial, The Information Fusion Centre – Indian Ocean Region, National Defence Academy, Indian Naval Ship Shivaji Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and Naval Dock Yard in Mumbai helping to gain insights on the country’s historical, cultural and economic contexts, its geopolitical strategies and military advancements. The visit also provided an opportunity for the delegation to visit Taj Mahal, beauty and unique culture of India.
All the visits were well coordinated through respective embassies and all the Course Participants could gain new knowledge and experiences through these visits which would be highly beneficial for their future career in Defence Services.
