The Army Wing of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) successfully conducted Exercise “Ink Blot” from 31 August to 5 September 2026 to train course participants in planning a divisional deployment in a counterinsurgency scenario.
During the exercise, participants developed operational plans following a comprehensive analysis of all relevant factors under the Intelligence Preparation of the Operational Environment. The exercise provided an excellent opportunity to understand the transformation from conventional Military planning to counterinsurgency Military planning.
The exercise was closely monitored by the Commandant and Chief Instructor, who incorporated practical experiences and lessons gathered by the Sri Lankan Army over nearly three decades of operations.
Adding an international dimension, Directing Staff from the Bangladesh Defence Services Staff College also joined the exercise and presented valuable insights.
The training concluded with participant plan presentations and detailed reviews.
