Exercise ‘Concrete Jungle’, a joint tactical exercise that is designed for Operations in Built-Up Areas (OBUA) terminated on a high note on May 22 May 2024. This year, the exercise was conducted over six days, from 17 to 22 May 2024 with the participation of the Army and Air Wings.

This exercise was designed to make Course Participants understand the planning considerations, concepts, tactics and procedures involved in Operations in Built-Up Areas (OBUA). The exercise was conducted in the form of a tutorial exercise in which, Course Participants of the Army and Air Wings were involved in planning an attack and defence in a Built Up Area (BUA) at the brigade level while maintaining a degree of control of air in support of the land operation.

Army and Air Course Participants jointly planned an exercise to practice and execute offensive and defensive operations against the generic enemy in an urban environment.

The exercise included mission analysis, non-tactical air and ground reconnaissance both from the enemy and own points of view, writing an estimate, syndicate room discussions, and Tactical Exercise Without Troops (TEWT) in the Kurunegala area to support their planning process.

Given the realistic nature of the exercise, the faculty reassured the clinical execution of courses of action initiated by the Course Participants.

2024 ARMY AND AIR COURSE PARTICIPANTS COMPLETED THE EXERCISE CONCRETE JUNGLE
