Exercise CARRIER PIGEON, which is a one sided free play planning exercise, took place in the Defence Services Command and Staff College premises from 05 – 11 July.

The aim of the exercise CARRIER PIGEON was to practice Student Officers in planning divisional level defensive and offensive operations and associated enabling actions within the doctrinal framework of manoeuvre warfare. More emphasis was given for conducting briefings, back briefing, oral orders and functioning of headquarters of an infantry division and brigade.

The exercise culminated with a command post exercise based on plans produced by Student Officers, a CIMIC and a media conference. Student Officers displayed great enthusiasm to find solutions to a complex situation during an operation which was alien to them.
