Defence Services Command and Staff College

COLLEGE RUN – 2026

The College Run, one of the highlights of the College’s annual calendar, took place on 07 July 2026. The purpose of the event was to emphasise the value of physical fitness, to build team spirit among the officers of the College and to provide a refreshing break for the Course Participants from their demanding study commitments. The Faculty Members, Permanent Staff and Course Participants of DSCSC Course No 20, including the Course Participants from friendly foreign nations participated in the event with tremendous enthusiasm.

The Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College, Major General KW Jayaweera USP psc flagged off the event and attended to the run himself along with faculty members. After completing the running session, the Commandant was invited to award prizes to the winners of the four competitive categories. Major SAADT Peris (SF) secured the first place among the Local Course Participants. In an exciting finish, Major Shantanu Mohan and Lieutenant Commander Pushpdeep Rana, both from India, crossed the finish line simultaneously and were jointly awarded the prize for the first place among the Foreign Course Participants.

Lieutenant Colonel DGJBP Dembatagahawaththa USP psc secured the first place among the Directing Staff and Major AWALA Amunugama SLSC was awarded the prize for the first place among the Directing Staff and Permanent Staff category. Further, Joint Syndicate No. 06 was recognised as the fastest joint syndicate of the event. The event was followed by a social held at the fountain square, with the participation of the Commandant, Deputy Commandant, Brigadier Coordinating, Chief Instructors of the Navy and Air Wings, Faculty Members and Permanent Staff, together with the Foreign and Local Course Participants.
