COMMANDANT’S OPENING ADDRESS MARKS THE COMMENCEMENT OF DSCSC COURSE NUMBER 19

The Defence Services Command and Staff College witnessed the commencement of the Course No 19. The occasion was marked by the opening address of Major General H H K S S Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, the Commandant, setting the stage for an intensive year focused on learning, leadership development, and the pursuit of excellence in education.

The Course Participants’ cohort consists 152 officers including 75 officers from Sri Lanka Army, 25 officers each from Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force respectively, and 27 Foreign Course Participants representing 11 nations namely Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, and Zambia.

In his address, the Commandant extended a warm welcome and outlined the cross-service nature of the course that promotes jointmanship and a holistic understanding of military operations. Having underscored the importance of leadership in today’s rapidly evolving defence environment, he further emphasized that the course is designed not only to hone tactical skills but also to build strategic vision and decision-making capabilities.

The Chief Instructors, the Brigadier Coordinating, Members of the Faculty, the Permanent Staff and the Course Participants took part in the inauguration of DSCSC Course Number 19 which was conducted with a grand yet solemn demeanor.
