COMMANDER OF THE SRI LANKA NAVY ADDRESSES DSCSC COURSE NO 19 ON 08 DECEMBER 2025

The Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) extended a red-carpet welcome to the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral BAKSP Banagoda, RSP, USP, ndc, psc, MMaritimePol, MBA in HRM, PG Dip in HRM, BMS, Dip in Mgt, AFNI, JP (Whole Island), on 08 December 2025 for his customary address to the Course Participants of DSCSC Course No 19.

Upon arrival, the Commander of the Navy was accorded full military honours and warmly received by the Commandant, Major General HHKSS Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc. Then, a brief cordial discussion was held focusing on professional, strategic, and institutional matters of mutual interest to the Sri Lanka Navy and DSCSC.

The Commander of the Navy then delivered a comprehensive and thought-provoking address on ‘The Role of the Sri Lanka Navy’, offering deep insights into the expanding responsibilities of the Sri Lanka Navy in safeguarding maritime security, protecting national interests, and contributing to regional stability. He further elaborated on key themes such as strategy beyond year 2030, the Navy’s role and preparedness in disaster relief operations, and the ongoing modernisation of the Sri Lanka Navy to meet emerging maritime challenges. The session ended with an engaging Q&A session, allowing Course Participants to seek clarity on operational, strategic, and policy-related aspects connected to future naval roles.

The visit concluded with the exchange of mementoes, symbolizing the strong professional ties between DSCSC and the Sri Lanka Navy. This customary engagement remains an integral component of the College’s academic curriculum, providing critical strategic perspectives and enriching the professional development of the Course Participants of DSCSC Course No 19, who will graduate on 16 December 2025.
