The Defence Services Command and Staff College marked a momentous occasion with the Graduation Ball for Course Number 17, held on the evening of December 15, 2023, at the stunning Wave N’ Lake Navy Hall. The event was a grand celebration that brought together tri-services officers, international student officers, along with the elegant presence of the ladies of the graduated officers and the dedicated staff, culminating their steadfast efforts and commitment to excellence. The Chief Guest of the event, Major General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG, the Commandant of the DSCSC and Mrs Swendrini Rodrigo were received by the Deputy Commandant, and three senior student officers of the respective wings along with the only lady student officer of the course.
Wave N’ Lake Navy Hall adorned with nautical-themed decor, exuded an air of elegance and sophistication, creating a captivating ambiance for the significance of the occasion and the sprawling lake outside added a touch of serenity to the celebration, offering a picturesque setting for this momentous event, an awe-inspiring backdrop for the festivities, situated amidst the tranquil surroundings of Welisara Naval Base. The inclusion of officers from various nations not only highlighted the cross-cultural diversity within the Defence Services Command and Staff College but also symbolized the collaborative and joint efforts essential for global security fostering cultural exchange and reinforcing the importance of cooperation on the global stage.
The event featured a series of memorable moments and the night was also marked by impressive displays of military precision and discipline, showcasing the skills honed during the officers’ time at the College facilitated by the cultural troupe of Sri Lanka Navy. The College takes pride in its role in shaping the future leaders of the armed forces and looks forward to witnessing the continued success and contributions of these officers to the defence and security of our nation.
