Marking the commencement of a year of demanding professional learning and camaraderie, the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) hosted the Ice Breaker for Course No 20 on 10 January 2026. The primary objective of the event was to provide Course Participants with an opportunity to break the initial silence, interact freely, and get to know one another better in a relaxed and friendly setting.
The event was graced by the Commandant, DSCSC, Major General K W Jayaweera USP psc, as the Chief Guest, together with Madam Chithrani Jayaweera, President of the DSCSC Ladies’ Club. The occasion was attended by the Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, faculty members, permanent staff, Course Participants, and their spouses. As part of the programme, a comprehensive College documentary was screened, providing Course Participants with an overview of how the course unfolds throughout the year, including academic modules, exercises, leadership development activities, sports, and social engagements.
Addressing the gathering, the Commandant extended a heartfelt welcome to all Course Participants, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect, professional excellence, and the value of shared learning in a tri-service and multinational environment.
The highlight of the evening was the informal interaction session, during which participants mingled freely irrespective of rank or appointment. This cordial atmosphere offered a valuable opportunity for Course Participants to engage with the Commandant, Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Directing Staff, permanent staff, and fellow colleagues, fostering early bonds of trust, understanding, and cooperation.
