DSCSC Course No 20 Officially Commences with the Welcome of Course Participants

The Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) marked a significant milestone with the formal commencement of DSCSC Course No 20 on 05 January 2026, signalling the beginning of an intensive academic year dedicated to professional military education, leadership development, and strategic excellence.

DSCSC Course No 20 brings together a diverse cohort of 158 Course Participants, including 71 from the Sri Lanka Army, 26 from the Sri Lanka Navy, and 27 from the Sri Lanka Air Force. In addition, the course hosts 34 Foreign Course Participants representing 13 friendly nations, namely Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Maldives, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, and Zambia.

The inauguration was highlighted by the opening address delivered by Major General K W Jayaweera USP psc, the Commandant of DSCSC. In his address, the Commandant warmly welcomed the Course Participants and set the tone for the year ahead, emphasizing the importance of intellectual rigour, professional integrity, and adaptive leadership in meeting the demands of contemporary and future security environments.

Following the Commandant’s address, the Chief Instructors of the Army, Navy, and Air Wings separately addressed the Course Participants of their respective Wings, providing an overview of the course structure and academic expectations. Subsequently, the Brigadier Coordinating delivered a comprehensive briefing on Mess procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the College, ensuring that all participants are well acquainted with the professional standards and traditions of DSCSC.
