The Commandant, Major General Lasantha Rodrigo extended a warm welcome to the student officers of the Course Number 18 at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), hailing from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with the participation of 26 esteemed foreign officers and their spouses on 12 January 2024 where tradition meets camaraderie! The “Ice-Breaker” is not merely a social gathering but a pivotal moment in fostering a sense of community among the student officers and the faculty that sets a collaborative forum for the entire academic year, encouraging a supportive environment that is essential for the demanding requirements of the course.

The Commandant shared words of wisdom and encouragement with the new student officers emphasizing significance of the course for their professional progression and invited students to approach their studies with dedication and diligence, recognizing the pivotal role this course play in shaping their military careers. Recognizing the crucial role that spouses play in the lives of military officers, the Commandant made a special appeal, urging them to support their husbands to fully immerse themselves in the course, ensuring a successful and enriching learning experience to embark on a transformative journey at the College of growth, learning, and lasting connections.

The diversity of the DSCSC family was on full display, with 26 foreign officers and their spouses joining the event served as a melting pot of cultures, fostering connections and   friendship that will undoubtedly strengthen the global network of military professionals. The Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, members of the faculty and the permanent staff along with their charming ladies graced the event.
