EXERCISE CRUCIBLE_2025

The ‘Exercise CRUCIBLE’ symbolised the culmination of joint exercises of Course 19, wherein Course Participants synthesised the knowledge acquired throughout the course to develop comprehensive Integrated Contingency Plans (ICP) within the context of Military Aid to the Civil Authorities (MACA).

This exercise conducted at the Defence Services Command and Staff College from 17 to 20 November 2025, with the aim of practicing Course Participants in planning and conduct of Operations Other Than War (OOTW) when the Armed Forces are called upon to provide MACA. The initial focus of the exercise was to evaluate the Course Participants’ understanding and application of concepts within the Military Aid to the Civil Power (MACP) framework, specifically by formulating an ICP related to MACP. The Course Participants were tasked to support law enforcement authorities when necessary, by considering the nation’s current challenges, perceived threats and deriving appropriate Rules of Engagement (ROE).

The second phase of the exercise aimed to assess Course Participants’ knowledge in the contexts of Military Aid to the Civil Ministries (MACM) and Military Aid to the Civil Communities (MACC). Throughout the exercise, Course Participants presented their respective ICPs and ROE to the faculty in designated joint syndicate rooms where they established National Level Joint Task Force Headquarters to address the scenario, demonstrating high standards of commitment and enthusiasm in their approach.
