EXERCISE SLEDGEHAMMER
  1. The Exercise SLEDGEHAMMER, a one-sided free-play Command Post exercise (CPX) was conducted at the Defence Services Command and Staff College from 23 September to 30 September 2024. This exercise represents a pivotal training event for Army Course Participants, wherein they independently engage in the formulation and execution of a comprehensive wargame scenario.
  2. The aim of the exercise SLEDGEHAMMER was to practice Course Participants in planning high intensity and semi – conventional stage counterinsurgency operations in tactical level and organising and conducting of a CPX. It plays a vital role in fostering independent operational thinking and decision-making, which placed significant emphasis on the delivery of operational briefings, back-briefings, issuance of oral orders, and the efficient functioning of both Control and Player Headquarters.
  3. The exercise culminated in a CPX that was predicated on the operational plans meticulously developed by the Course Participants. The Course Participants demonstrated considerable dedication and eagerness, particularly as this marked their inaugural experience in managing the Control Headquarters. The effectiveness of their operational plans was rigorously evaluated during the CPX. The exercise successfully concluded with a Red Ink Correction.
