The Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) successfully hosted the Diners’ Club for Term I of Course No. 20 on 11 March 2026 at the Officers’ Mess. The event provided a distinguished setting for intellectuals exchange and fellowship, bringing together the Commandant, Wing Heads, Faculty, Permanent Staff, Course Participants and their spouses for an evening that combined professional discourse with collegial interaction.

The Guest Speaker for the evening was His Excellency Andrew Patrick, the British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka who delivered a thought provoking lecture on the topic “Evolving Geopolitical Landscape; Effects on EU and NATO.” During his address, His Excellency examined the evolving global geopolitical environment and its implications for contemporary security architectures. In particular, he highlighted the strategic challenges and opportunities faced by the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, emphasizing the importance of collective security, multilateral cooperation and adaptive strategic policies in responding to emerging global dynamics. His remarks also reflected on the broader implications for the evolving world order and the strategic relevance of the Indian Ocean Region.

The lecture offered valuable insights into the shifting nature of international relations and underscored the continuing significance of transatlantic partnerships in maintaining regional and global stability. The session was further enriched by an engaging interactive discussion, during which Faculty Members and Course Participants exchanged views with His Excellency on contemporary geopolitical developments.

At the conclusion of the event, the Commandant presented a memento to His Excellency Andrew Patrick in appreciation of his distinguished presence and his valuable contribution to the Diners’ Club. A memento was also presented to Colonel Keith Miles, Defence Advisor of the United Kingdom to Sri Lanka, in recognition of his support in coordinating the event and for his insightful contributions during the question-and-answer session. This Term I Diners’ Club was coordinated and conducted by the Air Wing.
