INTERNATIONAL DAY – 2026

The Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) celebrated International Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and cultural splendor on Thursday, 11 June 2026, at the College premises. The event was graced by the Commandant, Major General KW Jayaweera USP psc, as the Chief Guest.

A prominent event in the College’s academic calendar, International Day 2026 showcased the rich cultural diversity of Course No 20, comprising both local and international participants. The course includes foreign officers from Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia and Zambia reflecting the multinational character of the College. The occasion was further honoured by the presence of distinguished diplomatic representatives, including the Defence Attachés of China and Malaysia.

The celebration served as a vibrant platform for cultural exchange, enabling international participants to share their unique traditions, customs, and culinary heritage, while proudly highlighting the rich cultural legacy of Sri Lanka. Carefully designed exhibition stalls, jointly organised by local and international Course Participants, provided visitors with fascinating insights into the history, culture, and traditions of the participating nations. The Sri Lankan course participants made a significant contribution to the event through, culturally themed stalls representing the Up-Country, Southern, and Northern regions of the island. These exhibits showcased the unique traditions, customs, handicrafts, attire, and culinary specialties associated with each region, offering visitors a comprehensive insight into Sri Lanka’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.

Further, adding colour and excitement to the event were captivating cultural performances presented through the generous support of the Embassies of China and India. Traditional music and dance performances by the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Air Force further enriched the evening’s programme. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by a special performance of oriental instrumental music by the Sri Lanka Air Force Rock Band, which delighted the audience and added a unique musical dimension to the celebrations.

The successful conduct of International Day 2026 reaffirmed the College’s commitment to fostering international understanding, cultural appreciation, and professional camaraderie among military officers from diverse backgrounds.
