JOINT WARFARE WORKSHOP CONDUCTED BY THE BANGLADESH DELEGATION – 2026

A delegation comprising eleven faculty members from the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur, Bangladesh, led by the Acting Commandant, Air Commodore Mohammed Mahfuz Uddin, afwc, acsc, psc, GD(P) visited the Defence Services Command and Staff College, Sri Lanka, from 10 to 19 July 2026 to conduct the annual Joint Warfare Workshop on Strategic Analysis and the Campaign Planning Process.

The delegation comprised Brigadier General Mohammed Mehedi Hasan, afwc, psc, Captain MI Sharif (C), NPP, afwc, psc, BN, Wing Commander Malik Arif Russd, acsc, psc, GD(P), Lieutenant Colonel ANM Sohel Arman, SUP, afwc, psc, Wing Commander Sheikh Monzurul Hasan, psc, GD(P), Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Khairul Alam, psc, Lieutenant Colonel Md Sayem Chowdhury, psc, Lieutenant Colonel Md Ariful Huq, SPP, psc, Wing Commander Ayas Ahmed, psc, ADWC and Commander Mirza Rashadul Islam, (G), NPP, psc, BN.

The primary objective of the Joint Warfare Workshop was to enhance the Course Participants’ understanding of the planning processes at the strategic, military strategic and operational levels through the application of strategic analysis, operational art and operational design. This workshop provided the Course Participants with a valuable opportunity to develop an appreciation of strategic analysis and the campaign planning tools employed at the National Security Council and military strategic/operational levels.

Throughout the workshop, the Course Participants demonstrated a high degree of enthusiasm, intellectual engagement and professionalism while analysing complex strategic scenarios and developing feasible Courses of Action. The workshop concluded successfully with well-structured and insightful presentations delivered by the Course Participants.

During the visit, the Head of the Delegation, Air Commodore Mohammed Mahfuz Uddin, afwc, acsc, psc, GD(P), paid courtesy calls on the Commandant, DSCSC Sri Lanka, Major General KW Jayaweera USP psc and Mr. Samapan Barua, Acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Sri Lanka.

Prior to the commencement of the workshop, the delegation was hosted on a two-day inland visit to Diyatalawa and Nuwara Eliya. Upon the successful completion of the workshop, the delegation was also provided with a two-day sightseeing and shopping tour of Colombo, bringing the visit to a memorable conclusion while further strengthening the longstanding professional relationship and cooperation between the Defence Services Command and Staff Colleges of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
