On November 4, 2024, Major General HCP Goonetilleke (Retd) RSP VSV USP ndc psc, a distinguished former Chief of Staff of the Army, visited the Defence Services Command and Staff College to deliver an important lecture titled ‘National Security Policy Development: Concepts and Considerations of Sri Lanka’. Upon arrival, Major General Goonetilleke received a warm welcome and engaged in an interactive session with the Commandant in his office, setting a positive tone for the event.

During the lecture Major General Goonetilleke emphasized the importance of the strategic environment in formulating a robust National Security Policy and discussed the need for a comprehensive National Defence Strategy that incorporates these elements. The interactive format allowed participants to engage directly with the Major General, encouraging questions and discussions. This session proved invaluable for Course Participants, enhancing their understanding of critical national security issues
