MILITARY TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOP BY INDIAN ARMED FORCES PROFESSIONALS FOR DEFENCE SERVICES COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE COURSE NUMBER 19

A distinguished Indian Armed Forces delegation conducted the Military Technology Workshop (MTW) for Course Participants of Course No 19 from 4 to 7 November 2025 at the Defence Services Command and Staff College. The delegation consisted of four eminent senior officers with extensive expertise in modern military technologies: Colonel Abhinay Gupta and Wing Commander VR Rakesh from the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, along with Colonel RP Singh and Wing Commander Vaibhav Lakhanpal from the Military Institute of Technology, Pune.

 

The annual MTW is designed to educate Course Participants on contemporary advancements in defence technology and to further strengthen the longstanding professional cooperation between the Armed Forces of India and Sri Lanka. This year’s workshop focused on a spectrum of current and emerging domains including multi-domain operations, hybrid and space warfare, grey-zone challenges, information and network-centric warfare, and directed energy weapons. The highly informative sessions enabled Course Participants to broaden their understanding of the evolving technological landscape in modern warfare and its strategic applications.

 

Prior to the commencement of the lectures, the delegation made a courtesy call on the Commandant, Major General HHKSS Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, who extended a warm welcome and conveyed his appreciation for India’s continued support in promoting collaborative military education. On the inaugural day, the Commandant hosted a formal dinner in honour of the visiting delegation at the Officers’ Mess. The evening was made vibrant with music and cultural performances by the Directorate of Army Band and Performing Arts of the Sri Lanka Army, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and cultural enrichment.

 

The successful conduct of the 3-day workshop significantly enhanced the knowledge of all Course Participants on the latest technological developments shaping the future battlefield. DSCSC greatly values the unwavering commitment and professional contribution of the Indian Armed Forces delegation towards capacity building and knowledge sharing between the militaries of both nations.
