On July 11, 2024, the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) held its second Diners’ Club event for Term 2 of Course No. 18 at the Officers’ Mess. The evening brought together the Commandant, Wing Heads, Directing Staff, Permanent Staff, Course Participants, and their spouses. Rear Admiral NPS Attygalle (Retired) RSP VSV USP ndu psc MSc (D&SS), delivered a lecture on “Sri Lanka’s Geostrategic Significance in the Indo-Pacific: Navigating Opportunities and Challenges amidst Major Power Rivalry”.

The lecture underscored the strategic importance of Sri Lanka in the Indo-Pacific region, emphasizing the nation’s critical geographic position. He explored the opportunities and challenges posed by major global power rivalries and provided deep insights into the geopolitical dynamics shaping Sri Lanka’s role in the region. Following the lecture, an interactive session allowed participants to share their ideas with Rear Admiral NPS Attygalle. The event exemplified the DSCSC’s commitment to fostering high-caliber, professional military education and promoting strategic discourse among its members.

The Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College presented a memento to the Guest Speaker at the conclusion of the event to appreciate his presence and to mark his maiden visit to the College.
