The Chief of Defence Staff, General LHSC Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil was warmly welcomed by Maj Gen Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG, the Commandant of the DSCSC on 02 December 2022.

The Staff College, in pursuit of the long-practiced tradition, made an invitation to the Chief of Defence Staff of Sri Lanka, to address the student officers of the course no 16 prior to their graduation with a view to offering them an opportunity to interact with the highest serving echelon in Sri Lanka. The guest of honour enlightened the audience on the evolution of the army and the contemporary challenges faced in the post war scenario and the significance of taking part in nation building during the economic crisis in the country during the speech delivered under the topic of “Evolution of the Role of Armed Forces in the Dynamic Security Landscape” General Shavendra Silva made a courtesy call the Commandant’s office before the address.

The Chief of Defence Staff received a token of appreciation subsequent to the address and the gesture was reciprocally returned at the Maroon Hall by the guest of honour. During the exquisite tea hosted at the upper lounge of the Officers’ Mess, General Shavendra Silva had a very cordial interaction with the student officers and the staff that included the Deputy Commandant, all wing heads and the members of the faculty.
