THE ADDRESS BY THE COMMANDER OF THE ARMY TO THE COURSE NO 17 AT THE DSCSC

Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of Sri Lanka Army received a red-carpet welcome by the Commandant of the college, Maj Gen Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG on 01 December 2023 at his office.

In respect of the invitation extended by the Commandant, the Commander of the Army addressed the on-going course no 17 prior to their graduation on the topic of Sri Lanka Army’s concerns on national security and transformation to meet new challenges. The Commander of the Army extensively elaborated on the prevailing national threat, interlinked with the challenge of modernizing the service toward a powerful army by 2030 whilst upgrading the facilities of the servicemen with a view to retaining them in the service. The undergraduates were able to clear their doubts on the focused subject with the speaker during the fruitful question and answer session towards the end of the address before awarding the Commander with a memento by the Commandant to mark his presence ensued the formalities.

In coincidence with the customary address, the guest of honour unveiled “The Commanders’ Corner”, totaling a volume of influential references at the college library which was a well-intentioned concept by the Commander of the Army himself.

The student officers were bestowed with a close and relaxed assemblage at the upper lounge of the Officers’ Mess to mingle with the Commander of the Army. The Deputy Commandant, all wing heads, the members of the faculty and the permanent staff, and student officers of the course took part in the event.
