THE CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF RECEIVES A RED-CARPET WELCOME AT THE DSCSC

The Chief of Defence Staff, General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil received a warm welcome by the Commandant of the DSCSC, Major General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG on 11 December 2023.

In conforming to its long-preserved tradition, the highest military commanders in the armed forces of the country are formally invited to address the student officers of the course prior to their graduation to share their treasured war experience. Preceding the address, the student officers of the Course No 17, General Shavendra Silva made a courtesy call at the Commandant’s office.

The Chief of Defence Staff delivered his speech on the topic, “Role of the military in the contemporary security landscape” and highlighted the importance of military adaptability in times of adversity that reflects its unwavering ability to safeguarding the prosperity and well-being of the nation transcending traditional boundaries of service. In view of marking the presence of the guest of honour, a memento was presented to the guest of honour subsequent to the Q & A session and the gesture was reciprocally returned.

The tea hosted at the Upper Lounge of the Officers’ Mess to General Shavendra Silva bestowed a prime opportunity to the graduands for a cordial interaction that included the Deputy Commandant, all Wing Heads, members of the faculty and the permanent staff perfecting the formalities of the event.
