As an annual event of the Defence Services Command and Staff College a workshop on “Role of ICRC and International Humanitarian Law” was conducted by a panel headed by Brig (Retired) Jacques Lemay ( British Army) of ICRC from 14 to 16 March to Student Officers of Course No 16 at the Maroon Hall respecting COVID 19 Protocols.
During the workshop Student Officers were able to listen to the expert panel on ICRC Role and Mandate, Applicable Laws to Military Operations, Legal Framework for Military Operations, Targeting Distinction, Precaution and Proportionality, Command Responsibility, Roots of Behavior, Peacekeeping & IHL, Protection of Civilians, Conflict Related Sexual Violence, IHL-ICRC Thematic, IHL & New Technologies, Post Conflict IHL, Missing and Detention.
All Student Officers were actively took part in the workshop and they were able to attend few exercises. The workshop was terminated with a fruitful panel discussion, during which Student Officers were able to clarify their doubts. Finally the delegation was awarded with mementos by the Chief Instructor Army Wing.
