The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General GDH Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil was given a red carpet welcome and the Commandant of DSCSC, Maj Gen Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG warmly received the guest of honour on 05 December 2022 at the DSCSC.
On the invitation of the Commandant, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence; past alumini of the first ACSC Course, addressed the course no 16 prior to their graduation on the theme of ‘Revised National Defence Policy to strengthen National Security’. Further, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence has emphasized the importance of military in present day context and use of force in the uprising of nontraditional threats to the nation and the effect of the National interest during his lecture. Further, he has highlighted the upgrading and the development has been placed in past years since the inauguration of the Army Command and Staff College to Defence Services Command and Staff College to date and thank all the Commandants. In concurrence with his official visit, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, called on the Commandant at his office and discussed about the avenues of enhancing the middle grade officers on the emerging threats that pop up in varied forms and to equip them with the right perception to be an active stake holder in nation building.
Subsequent to the address, the Secretary to the ministry of Defence received a token of appreciation and the gesture was reciprocally returned at the Maroon Hall. The course no 16 was bestowed with an informal interaction session with the guest of honour during tea hosted at the upper lounge of the Officers’ Mess. The Deputy Commandant, all wing heads and the members of the faculty were present at the event.
