“Vesak”, also known as the Buddha Jayanthi and Buddha Purnima day is celebrated as a religious and a cultural festival on the full moon of the lunar month of May. On this sacred day, more than 400 millions of Buddhists around the world commemorate the three significant events of Lord Buddha, the Birth, Enlightenment, and Passing Away.   Due to the diversity of the Buddhist culture, various colourful events have been added to celebrate Vesak in different countries. In Sri Lanka the Vesak is celebrated by hanging colourful Vesak lanterns, organizing alms giving activities (Dansalas), “Vesak Bathi Gee” and erecting Pandals, etc. Giving prominence to the college customs and traditions, the DSCSC course No 17 also celebrated the Vesak including the unique cultural events, on 4 May 2023 at the college premises with the participation of the Commandant, the Faculty members, Permanent Staff and Student Officers along with their families.
