VESAK CEREMONY OF DSCSC COURSE NO 18

“Vesak”, also known as the Buddha Jayanthi and Buddha Purnima day is celebrated as a religious and a cultural festival on the full moon of the lunar month of May. On this sacred day, more than 400 millions of Buddhists around the world commemorate the three significant events of Lord Buddha, the Birth, Enlightenment, and Passing Away. In Sri Lanka, the Vesak is celebrated as a spiritual and cultural event that brings communities together in acts of devotion, decoration, and charity. Especially, citizens observe the eight precepts, decorate homes with colourful Vesak lanterns, organizeg alms giving activities (Dansalas), ʽVesak Bathi Geeʼ and erect pandals, etc during the month.

Emphasising the college’s customs and traditions, the DSCSC Course No. 18 celebrated Vesak on May 22, 2024 at the college premises. The event featured unique cultural activities and was attended by the Commandant Major General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG, the Deputy Commandant, Chief Instructors of the Army, Navy, and Air Wings, the Brigadier Coordinating, faculty members, permanent staff, Course Participants and their families.
