VISIT TO THE CENTRAL BANK, PORT CITY, COLOMBO HARBOUR AND WESTERN NAVAL AREA

On 22nd March 2023, as per the academic calendar of DSCSC Course No 17, the Student Officers visited the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the Port City, Colombo Harbour, Ships and Craft in Western Naval Command. Students Officers were briefed on the role of the Central Bank in maintaining country’s economy. The Port City visit enlightened the knowledge on opportunities and new developments connected with Port City project. Students Officers were able to get a fair knowledge on Colombo Harbour operations and their importance to National Economy. The visit to the Western Naval Command was a great opportunity for them to acquire knowledge on the significance of the Western Naval Command, since it is the sword arm of the Sri Lanka Navy to Western frontier of the island. During the visit, the Student Officers were able to gather knowledge about the functions of the Western Naval Command and Harbour security. At the same time, they got a rare opportunity to visit the latest and the powerful ship ‘‘SLNS Vijayabahu’’, other ships and craft attached to Western Naval Command. To mark the event the Commandant of DSCSC Maj Gen BKGML Rodrigo RSP psc IG exchanged mementoes with Commander Western Naval Area RAdm PS De Silva, USP, ndc, psc at Western Naval Command wardroom. By considering all the knowledge gained, this visit can be identified as a productive and significant exposure for the Student Officers.
