In line with the course curriculum of DSCSC, the Student Officers of course No 16, called on at the Western Naval Command Headquarters, Customs and Ports Authority of Sri Lanka on 24th March 2022. The visit to all three destinations were of immense value to broaden the horizon of knowledge of Student Officers. At Customs, students were educated on the role, tasks and functions of the department since its inception by the Director General of Customs himself and his able staff. The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) disseminated its present operational functions and future expansion projects in store to develop Colombo port in near future followed by the field visits to JCT and Colombo Southern Harbour expansion site. During the visit to Western Naval Command Headquarters the student officers witnessed a comprehensive presentation on vision, mission, role and task of Western Naval Area followed by onboard visits to Capital Ships and Fast Attack Craft of SLN berthed in Colombo harbour. The Western Naval Command, Sri Lanka Customs and SLPA very positively accommodated the student fraternity and DS body during the visits with the warmest of welcome mixed with highest order of hospitality. Visits to all three prestigious institutions were culminated with a sumptuous luncheon hosted by the Sri Lanka Navy at the ‘Wardroom’ of Western Naval Command Headquarters.
