The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu received a warm reception by Major General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG, the Commandant of the DSCSC on 01 December 2022.

On the invitation of the Commandant, DSCSC, the Commander of the Army, addressed the course no 16 prior to their graduation, providing them an opportunity to share the views and experiences of one of the legendary military leaders in our country. The guest of honour, made a valuable and timely speech themed on ‘Sri Lanka Army’s Concerns on National Security’ focused the evolution of ‘Sri Lanka Army’s Perception of National Security’, ‘Present Complex Security Environment’ and ‘Future of the Sri Lanka Army’ and presented a comprehensive overview of security developments after independence, and Post Humanitarian Operations, challenges of non-traditional threats and anticipated challenges in the future. At the end of the speech, the student officers had the opportunity of interacting with the guest speaker and enlightening their knowledge by way of questions and clarifications during the question and answer session.

Further, the formal visit to the Commandant’s office that ensued an affable discussion, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage affirmed to strengthen the close affinity between two iconic institutes in the country prior to the address.

The Commander of the Army was awarded a memento to mark his presence as and it a remarkable and a memorable for the course, Further it was reciprocally returned at the Maroon Hall by presenting a memento and a book pack to the DSCSC library by the guest of honour.

The student officers were bestowed with a close and informal assemblage at the upper lounge of the Officers’ Mess with the visiting Commander of the Army. The Deputy Commandant, all wing heads, and the members of the faculty, took part in the event.
