The Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College, Maj Gen Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG welcomed course no 17 in his maiden address on 04 Jan 2023 marking the commencement of the academic year 2023. DSCSC Course No 17 which consists of 78 officers from the Sri Lanka Army, 26 officers each from the Sri Lanka Navy and Air Force, one officer from Sri Lanka Police and 25 allied officers representing foreign armed forces that make up the total of 156 undergraduates.
Responding to the readership vacancies in the Staff College Sri Lanka, international student officers from 11 countries; The People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Republic of India, the Republic of Indonesia, Republic of Maldives, Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Rwanda, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Republic of Senegal, Republic of Zambia and the United States of America enrolled for the academic year 2023.
The DSCSC course encompasses an orientation module, followed by four progressive terms. Term one focuses on Foundation Studies and Sri Lankan Studies, while Term Two fields on Operations of War and International Affairs. Term Three aims at Counter Insurgency Operations, Operations Other than War and Strategic Studies, while Term Four prepares students for Joint Operations, Management and Technology.
The Deputy Commandant, all Wing Heads, the faculty and the Permanent Staff took part in the opening ceremony.
