The glorious legacy of the Defence Services Command and Staff College stands incomparable to date since its inception and its two-fold history reveals that the college was first commissioned as the Army Command and Staff College (ACSC) on 16 March 1998.  Marking a significant landmark in the annals of Sri Lankan armed forces, the college was re- designated as the Defence Services Command and Staff College augmenting its eminence where all military doctrinal and strategic level teachings were brought under one roof on 22nd January 2007.

The Commandant, Maj Gen Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG raised the college flag celebrating the 26th anniversary in a charm and solemn ceremony on 23 January 2023.  As at today, the college during its unique history has undergone tremendous transformations in diverse spheres introducing a multicultural learning that animated from its origin and the dynamic values of joint services inter-operability to the pursuit and sharing of excellence, remaining within the traditions set forth and a specific and time-tested set of core values, exploring new vistas of excellence of military education in Sri Lanka.

The Deputy Commandant, all Wing Heads, the faculty members, the permanent staff that includes the civilian staff and the student officers of the course no 17 attended the ceremony.
