Major General IHMNN Herath RSP USP psc assumed duties as the 8th Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) on 16 December 2020.

A grand Drive Pass was accorded on his arrival to the DSCSC, the apex of military teaching in Sri Lanka. The Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier Coordinating and all the Wing Heads.

In conforming to the traditions, he was hosted with an All Rank Tea at the College Cafeteria (COCOON) and a sapling of an Ironwood was planted by the Commandant at the Fountain Square prior to the officers address at the Maroon Hall.

The Commandant in his address emphasized the importance of our role in ensuring a viable working environment and of our primary responsibility in educating the Student Officers about the art of applying command functions and staff techniques with an understanding on joint inter-services and inter-agency operations and the mechanism of formulating the national defence policy and its core relation with the military of defence.
