The Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), as the premier military institute, provides exceptional training for middle-grade officers in the Sri Lankan Armed Forces as well as Officers from foreign nations. Committed to academic excellence, the Staff College aims to develop future leaders who are both competent and confident, preparing them to undertake Command, Staff, and Instructional duties in their respective services.

Thus, the Directing Staff (DS) of the college bear substantial responsibility for transforming these middle-grade Officers to meet the demands and dynamics of Professional Military Education (PME). To bolster the capabilities and capacities of the DSs, the DSCSC organized its Directing Staff Enrichment Programme before commencing the third term of the course No 18 on 05 and 06 August 2024 at the Gray Hall, DSCSC. The programme commenced with opening remarks by the Commandant, DSCSC, Major General DKSK Dolage USP psc.

The programme primarily focused on the psychological aspects of adult training and education, statistical perspectives of research, effective strategies for adult learning and training, and the transformative role of technology in modern academics. Renowned academics and professionals, including Dr. Samantha Rathnayake, Dr. Niroshan Withanage, Ms. Sherien Perera, and Prof. KP Hewagamage, conducted the sessions. Besides, the Commandant led special brainstorming sessions on the Significance of Applied Learning in PME, Methods of Instruction (MoI), Course Curriculum, and Performance Evaluation. These sessions provided valuable insights that broadened the faculty members’ perspectives, enabling them to guide CPs more effectively.
