On November 4, 2024, Major General HCP Goonetilleke (Retd) RSP VSV USP ndc psc, a distinguished former Chief of Staff of the Army, visited the Defence Services Command and Staff College to deliver an important lecture titled ‘National Security Policy Development: Concepts and Considerations of Sri Lanka’. Upon arrival, Major General Goonetilleke received a warm welcome and engaged in an interactive session with the Commandant in his office, setting a positive tone for the event.
During the lecture Major General Goonetilleke emphasized the importance of the strategic environment in formulating a robust National Security Policy and discussed the need for a comprehensive National Defence Strategy that incorporates these elements. The interactive format allowed participants to engage directly with the Major General, encouraging questions and discussions.
