MAJOR GENERAL HHKSS HEWAGE ASSUMES OFFICE AS THE 11TH COMMANDANT OF DSCSC

Major General HHKSS Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc officially assumed duties as the 11th Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College on 18 December 2024. The occasion was marked by a series of ceremonial and formal events, underscoring the significance of this milestone in the college’s history.

The day commenced with a guard turnout, a time-honoured tradition reflecting the respect and esteem accorded to the incoming Commandant, followed by religious rituals conducted at an auspicious time, invoking blessings for the new appointment in his office.

Major General Hewage posed for a group photograph with the Faculty and Permanent Staff to mark the momentous occasion. During the formal proceedings, the Commandant participated in a tree-planting ceremony, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and his vision for the college’s future. Following the tree planting, the new Commandant addressed the troops, delivering an inspiring speech that reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the college’s legacy of excellence.

This was followed by an all-ranks tea, providing an opportunity to strengthen bonds and nurture a sense of unity among all members of the college. Major General Hewage then delivered an inspiring address to the Faculty and Permanent Staff, outlining his vision for the institution’s growth and success. He underscored the significance of three core values; integrity, discipline, and honesty as essential pillars for fulfilling the college’s mission and upholding its legacy of excellence.
