HON DEPUTY MINISTER OF DEFENCE, MAJOR GENERAL K. P. ARUNA JAYASEKARA (RETD) WWV RSP VSV USP ndc psc ADDRESSES THE DINERS’ CLUB AT THE DEFENCE SERVICES COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE

On 12 March 2025, the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) hosted its first Diners’ Club event for term 1 of Course No. 19 at the Officers’ Mess with the Participation of the Commandant, Deputy Commandant, Brigadier Coordinating, Wing Heads, Directing Staff, Permanent Staff, Course Participants, and their spouses. The highlight of the evening was an inspiring lecture delivered by the Honourable Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General K. P. Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), who attended as the Guest Speaker. His lecture, titled ‘Strategic Challenges and Law & Order: Safeguarding Sri Lanka’s Path to Prosperity’, provided valuable insights into the pressing issues of national security and governance, setting a thought-provoking tone for the gathering.

The lecture highlighted the importance of strategic governance and emphasised government policies focused on people-centric development, digitization, and the digital economy, alongside promoting ethnic equity. Hon Deputy Minister of Defence further underscored the significance of transforming mindsets by fostering a sense of belonging and unity within the nation, which aligns with the core objective of the government’s policy, ‘Clean Sri Lanka.’ The speaker also reiterated the government’s commitment to integrating new technology within the Sri Lankan Armed Forces, emphasising that the maritime domain remains a key priority in the country’s development agenda.

Following the lecture, an interactive session allowed participants to share their ideas with Hon Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General K. P. Aruna Jayasekara (Retd). The event exemplified the DSCSC’s commitment to fostering high-caliber professional military education and promoting strategic discourse among its members.

The Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College presented a memento to the Guest Speaker at the conclusion of the event to appreciate his gracious presence and to mark his visit to the College.
