Continuing the tradition between the two esteem Colleges, a distinguished delegation from the Defenece Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Bangladesh visited the Defenece Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Sri Lanka from 23 June to 1 July 2025. The delegation was headed by the Commandant, Major General Chowdhury Mohammad Azizul Haque Hazary OSP (BAR) SGP ndc psc MPhil and comprised the Chief Instructor, Brigadier General Mohammad Mehedi Hasan afwc psc the Senior Instructor, Colonel Muhammad Masudur Rahman psc and faculty members Lieutenant Colonel Md Shahaduzzaman Sikdar afwc psc EME, Wing Commander Md Masudur Rahman fawc psc GD(P), Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Faheem Alam Basunia afwc psc AC, Lieutenant Colonel Rashedul Islam afwc psc SIGS, Commander Md Tasbir Hossain Sajib (E) NPP psc BN, Major Muhammad Masud Ur Rahman psc SIGS. The objective of the visit is to impart working knowledge on the planning process at strategic, military-strategic and operational levels using strategic analysis process and the tools of operational art and design to the Course Participants of the DSCSC, Sri Lanka.
During the four-day workshop, the visiting faculty members guided the Course Participants in understanding the relationships among national strategy, military strategy and operational levels of war, understanding and applying the process of carrying out strategic analysis to formulate viable policy options, understanding and applying the technique of translating strategic guidance into military strategic directives and understanding and applying the methodology of using the tools of operational art while designing military campaigns/major operations.
The positive and excellent teaching methods and approaches adopted by the visiting faculty members to explain the complex subject matters made it easy for the Course Participants to gain the required knowledge within the short span of time. Course Participants enthusiastically engaged in the learning process and three selected joint syndicates were able to present the products of the process to the whole course at the end of the workshop.
Beside the workshop activities, the Head of the Delegation Major General Chowdhury Mohammad Azizul Haque Hazary OSP (BAR) SGP ndc psc MPhil paid a courtesy call on several high-ranking officials in Sri Lanka, including the High Commissioner of the Bangladesh High Commission in Sri Lanka His Excellency Mr Andalib Elias, the Commandant of National Defence College, Sri Lanka Major General C S Munasinghe WWV RWP RSP USP ndc IG and the Commandant DSCSC, Sri Lanka Major General H H K S S Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc.
The delegation also had the opportunity to explore the rich history, scenic beauty and cultural richness and diversity of the country as they visited Colombo, Kandy, Nuwaraeliya, Bandarawella, Diyathalawa, Ella, Hikkaduwa and Galle areas.
