COMMANDER OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY ADDRESSES DSCSC COURSE NO 19 ON 09 DECEMBER 2025

The Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) had the distinct honour of welcoming Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, for his customary address to the Course Participants of DSCSC Course No 19 on 09 December 2025.

Upon arrival, the Commander of the Army was accorded full military honours before calling on the Commandant of DSCSC, Major General HHKSS Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, for a cordial discussion on matters of professional, doctrinal, and institutional relevance.

The Commander of the Army then delivered a comprehensive and forward-looking address titled ‘Future Operating Environment: Strategic Foresight for the Sri Lanka Army’. In his address, he outlined the evolving character of warfare and security, highlighting the implications of emerging technologies, hybrid threats, information warfare, cyber and space domains, climate-induced security challenges, and the increasing importance of joint, inter-agency, and multi-domain operations.

The address also underscored the importance of strategic foresight, force modernization, and doctrinal evolution to ensure readiness across the full spectrum of military operations, while contributing to national security, stability, and development within a complex regional and global geopolitical environment. The event included an interactive Q&A session, providing the Course Participants the opportunity to discuss operational, strategic, and policy-related challenges with the Army Commander.

The visit concluded with the exchange of mementoes, reflecting the strong professional partnership between the Sri Lanka Army and DSCSC. Such engagements remain a key element of the College’s curriculum, enriching the learning and professional development of future military leaders.
