CHIEF OF THE ARMY STAFF OF THE INDIAN ARMY VISITS DEFENCE SERVICES COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE

The Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) had the privilege of hosting the Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army, General Upendra Dwivedi PVSM AVSM, on 07 January 2026, during his official visit to Sri Lanka, undertaken on an invitation of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG.

Upon arrival at the College, the visiting Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army was warmly received by the Commandant, DSCSC, Major General KW Jayaweera USP psc and accorded a drive past at the Main Entrance. General Dwivedi thereafter inaugurated the Indo–Lanka Friendship Wisdom Corner at the DSCSC Library, symbolizing the enduring friendship and professional military cooperation between the two Armies. A commemorative group photograph was subsequently taken at the iconic Owl’s Den to mark the significance of this historic milestone.

During the visit, the DSCSC received an ambulance for the utilization of the wellbeing of all ranks serving in the College. This was followed by an interactive session hosted over tea session held at the Upper Lounge of the Officers’ Mess, attended by the Commandant, the Deputy Commandant, Chief Instructors of the three Wings, and the Brigadier Coordinating. A representative group of Faculty Members, Permanent Staff, and Course Participants from all three Services, including all Foreign Course Participants, also joined the gathering. The visit was formally commemorated with the signing of the Visitors’ Book at the Officers’ Mess.

Subsequently, the Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army proceeded to the Maroon Hall, where the Commandant, DSCSC, delivered the welcome address. General Upendra Dwivedi then addressed the gathering on the theme “Dynamics of Modern-Day War and Its Implications,” sharing his professional insights, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session. The vote of thanks was delivered by the Chief Instructor of the Army Wing.

The visit concluded with the exchange of mementoes, reaffirming the strong bonds of friendship and continued cooperation between the Indian Army and the Defence Services Command and Staff College.
