EXERCISE GOLDEN SHIELD – DSCSC 20

Exercise GOLDEN SHIELD, one of the most prominent joint service exercises of the DSCSC course calendar was conducted from 31 May to 9 June 2026. The phase one of this Exercise was held within the College premises and the second phase was conducted in general area Dambulla where a Tactical Exercise Without Troops (TEWT) was conducted from 4 to 6 June 2026, marking the culmination of the only outdoor overnight exercise of the DSCSC. The Exercise GOLDEN SHIELD provided Course Participants with hands-on experience in decision-making and staff work.

The Exercise began with the mission analysis conducted at the syndicate rooms, followed by the exercise planning and discussions by the Army Wing over four days, covering all the aspects of defensive operations and concluded by conducting a TEWT in Menikdena area, Dambulla. The Navy and Air Force components also conducted independent and supporting, offensive and defensive operations planning throughout the exercise along with the Army component. An air reconnaissance of Dambulla area further aided the Course Participants’ planning process.

Exercise GOLDEN SHIELD offered a valuable change of pace for the Course Participants, allowing them to operate in an outdoor environment while fostering knowledge sharing among the different services. The Commandant and the Faculty provided guidance throughout the Exercise. The Exercise concluded with a Red Ink Correction (RIC) examination on 8 and 9 June 2026 at the College.
