MAJOR GENERAL KPA JAYASEKERA (RETD) WWV RSP VSV USP ndc psc HONOURABLE DEPUTY MINISTER OF DEFENCE ADDRESSES THE DINERS’ CLUB AT THE DEFENCE SERVICES COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE-2026

On 23 July 2026, the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) successfully hosted the Diners’ Club for Course No. 20 at the Officers’ Mess. The event provided a distinguished setting for intellectual exchange and fellowship, bringing together the Commandant, Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Faculty, Permanent Staff, Course Participants, and their spouses for an evening that combined professional discourse with collegial interaction.

The Guest Speaker for the evening was Major General KPA Jayasekera (Retd) WWV RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Honourable Deputy Minister of Defence, who delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the topic “Security and Stability in Sri Lanka within an Evolving Global Order”. During his address, the Honourable Deputy Minister examined the shifting nature of the international landscape and the strategic challenges and opportunities it presents for Sri Lanka’s national security.

The lecture offered valuable insights into how contemporary global dynamics impact regional stability, providing the audience with a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in safeguarding the nation’s path to stability and prosperity. A key highlight of his lecture was the emphasis on the intrinsic link between the nation’s financial health and its safety; he underscored that a robust and stable economy is of paramount importance, as it directly influences all levels of national stability and serves as a fundamental pillar of overall security. Furthermore, the Honourable Deputy Minister highlighted that the fulfilment of all individual aspirations is equally vital in maintaining a harmonious and secure society.

The session was further enriched by an engaging interactive discussion, during which Course Participants exchanged views and shared ideas with the Guest Speaker on contemporary security developments. The event exemplified the DSCSC commitment to fostering high-calibre professional military education and promoting strategic discourse among its members and Course Participants.

At the conclusion of the event, the Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College presented a memento to Major General Aruna Jayasekera (Retd) in appreciation of his distinguished presence and his valuable contribution to the Diners’ Club. In a graceful gesture to mark the occasion, a memento was also presented to Mrs. Sujeewa Waruni Jayasekara, the spouse of the Guest Speaker, by Mrs. Chithrani Jayaweera, the spouse of the Commandant.
