EXERCISE ‘UPPER CUT’ CONCLUDES

A week-long, Army Wing tactical exercise coded ‘Upper Cut’ completed successfully on 15 May. This exercise took place from 08 to 15 May 2021 within the college premises successfully adhering to COVID – 19 protocol.
This is the first major tactical exercise of the Army Wing aiming to educate and guide Student Officers to plan and execute brigade-level offensive operations. Due to the nature of its design, this exercise is considered to be a noteworthy exercise among several major exercises, and finally undergoes a 15 hour Red Ink Correction (RIC) examination.
Although it curtailed the conduct of the TEWT at Narammala, in Kurunegla District, the faculty could successfully overcome the issue resorting to use the Google Earth software and High-tech Soldier application in the syndicate rooms to effectively evaluate the ground imperatives. In this way, local and foreign military student officers successfully defeated their imaginary enemy Objective -BLUE BIRD. This can be considered as a novel experience and leap in using technology to understand the varying situations virtually. Student officers showed a high level of confidence and enthusiasm in attempting the exercise.
