EXERCISE SLEDGE HAMMER – 2021

Exercise ‘SLEDGE HAMMER’, which is a Command Post Exercise (CPX), took place in the Defence Services Command and Staff College premises from 28 Sept to 5 Oct 21. This is one of the major exercises for Army Student Officers during the Term 3.

The aim of the exercise ‘SLEDGE HAMMER’ is to practice Student Officers in planning and conducting COIN operations at tactical level, contingency planning at tactical level and planning, organizing and conduct of a CPX. More emphasis was given for developing Student Officers’ understanding on planning, organizing and conduct of a one sided wargame.

With the direction of the Commandant and following the COVID protocols initial part of the exercise was conducted online and on the confirmation of the PCR negative results, Student Officers have got the opportunity to participate for the exercise physically from 1 Oct to 5 Oct. The exercise culminated with a RIC based on the exercise settings. Eighty seven Student Officers of the Army Wing along with the Directing Staff took part in the exercise.
