A delegation of nine members from DSCSC Mirpur, Bangladesh, headed by the Commandant Maj Gen Md Faizur Rahman BSP SGP ndc afwc psc, visited DSCSC Sri Lanka from 21 June to 29 June 2024. Members of the delegation were Brig Gen Mohamd Raisul Islam afwc psc, Col Mohammad Zahid Hossain psc, Lt Col Shahriar Inam Reza SUP afwc psc inf, Lt Col Mohammad Ali Khan afwc psc sigs, Lt Col Abu Md Shahnoor Shawon psc inf, Wg Cdr Fahim Hossain psc GD (P), Cdr Mohammad Akram Uddin Zahid (TAS) NPP psc BN and Maj Mohammad Rafi Uddin Ahme, psc G Arty. The purpose of their visit was to conduct the annual Joint Warfare Workshop on Strategic Analysis and Campaign Planning Process. The workshop aimed to impart knowledge on the planning process at the strategic, military strategic and operational levels, utilizing strategic analysis and operational art and design.
During the workshop, the student officers were guided in a joint exercise to comprehend strategic analysis and identify campaign planning tools, as part of the activities of the National Security Council and Chief of Defence Staff. The student officers actively engaged in finding viable options for simulated strategically complex situations, displaying great enthusiasm and finding the subject matter novel. Following the successful completion of the workshop, the Course Participants had the opportunity to present their plans for the given situations.
In addition to the workshop activities, the head of the delegation, Maj Gen Md Faizur Rahman BSP SGP ndu afwc psc, paid courtesy calls on several high-ranking officials, including the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Gen GDHK Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc, the Chief of Defence Staff Gen LHSC Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc MPhil, the Commandant DSCSC Maj Gen BKGML Rodrigo RSP psc IG, the Commandant NDC Maj Gen GDS Senarath Yapa (Retd) RWP RSP ndu and the COMEAST RAdm BAKSP Banagoda RSP USP psc MBA in HRM PG, Dip in HRM, BMS Dip in Mgt. Before conducting the workshop, the delegation also had the opportunity to explore the northeast part of the country.
